NEIGHBORHOODS

SOHO / TRIBECA / HUDSON SQUARE

Now home to super trendy restaurants and stores and among Manhattan's wealthiest communities, these areas began as industrial and manufacturing districts and their architecture proves it.

SOHO (SOuth of HOuston) began as the SOHO Cast Iron (historic) District and you can still see find many of the old cast iron fronts preserved in the area which runs from Sixth Avenue east to Mulberry south of Houston (naturally) and north of Canal. The main retail areas include Broadway, West Broadway, Prince and Spring Streets/

TRIBECA (the TRIangle BElow CAnal Street) is famous for its annual Film Festival, run by former resident Robert DiNiro. It's below Canal, West of Broadway and North of Chambers Street. The main retail streets include West Broadway, Hudson, and Varick, for many years home to Manhattan's printing trade.

Hudson Square lies west of Sixth Avenue, north of Canal, and south of Houston. Its many new office buildings are home to many publishers and ad firms.
